2010 TRB Annual Meeting Sessions
- The TRB Transportation and Air Quality Committee was allotted two sessions for the 2010 TRB Annual Meeting. In addition, several presentations were given in each of our subcommittee meetings.
- A session on the EPA’s MOVES2010 model was held on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 1:30 to 3:15 pm at the Marriott (Session 289). EPA released the final version of the model at the end of 2009 as described below. We had presentations from EPA staff and practitioners to explain how to use the model and the types of data that will be needed:
- Presentation by Gary Dolce, EPA OTAQ
- MOVES2010: Information for Transportation Modelers by Megan Beardsley, EPA OTAQ
- Considerations in using MOVES for Regional and Project Level Emissions Analysis by David B. Roden, AECOM
- For our second session, we held a climate change roundtable on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at the Marriott (Session 373), in which presenters addressed setting regional greenhouse gas emission targets, adaptation strategies for State DOTs and MPOs, and strategies for reducing greenhouse gases.
- Two presentations were made at our Project-Level Air Quality subcommittee meeting chaired by Shauna Hallmark:
- Health Impacts of Exposure to Traffic Related Air Pollution by Bob O’Keefe and Dan Greenbaum, Health Effects Institute
- Implications of MOVES on Project-Level Air Quality Analysis by Michael Claggett, Federal Highway Administration
- And two presentations were made at our Regional Transportation Air Quality Issues subcomittee meeting chaired by Mohan Venigalla:
- Impacts on Mobile Source Emissions of an Older Vehicle Fleet in the Metropolitan Washington Region by Mike Clifford, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments
- UK Transportation and Climate Change Experiences by Damon Fordham, AEA Technology
- Other activities of interest during the 2010 TRB Annual Meeting are provided on our Committee Activities page.
2009 International Workshop on Emission Models
- The Transportation and Air Quality Committee of the TRB (ADC20) was one of the co-sponsors of the 2009 International Workshop on Emission Models (view program and presentations) held in Beijing, China on December 17-18, 2009. The latest Final Report in the NCHRP 25-25 series is available (Task 59)
- A contractor’s report on Task 59: “Evaluate the Interactions between Transportation-Related Particulate Matter, Ozone, Air Toxics, Greenhouse gases, and Other Air Pollutant Control Strategies” has been completed. It was conducted for the AASHTO Standing Committee on the Environment with funding provided through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program Project 25-25. The opinions and conclusions expressed or implied in the report are those of the contractors performing the research and are not necessarily those of the Transportation Research Board or its sponsors. The document is not a report of the Transportation Research Board or of the National Research Council.
